Top 10 Marketing Tips for Beauty Salons

Beauty Salon Marketing Tips

Make your profits more attractive by reading our top 10 tips for marketing your beauty salon online.

  • Keep in touch with customers by email

The 80/20 rule is important in marketing. It’s based on the principle that 80% of your business will come from just 20% of your clients.

No business can afford to ignore its current clients. Many beauty salons spend a fortune chasing new clients rather than trying to sell more to their existing ones.Email marketing is a cheap and effective way to keep in touch with clients and entice them back into your salon.

  • Do an online guided tour of the salon

A 360 degree virtual tour on your website will let people see your salon close up and encourage them to book an appointment.

Have a look at the websites for other beauty salons in your area. Do any of them give their clients a virtual tour? This idea could help your business stand out.

  • Differentiate your beauty salon from all the rest

When planning your own online marketing take a look at what others are doing. How are their websites worded? Do they have any unique selling points? Is there a gap in the market for a certain treatment?

If you take the time to research your market properly you will reap the benefits in the long run by being slightly different from all the other beauty salons with unimaginative marketing.

  • Make use of social media sites

In order to market your beauty salon successfully you need to be where your customers are. These days that means using social media sites such as Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.

Having a presence on these social media sites will benefit your search engine rankings and help you target more local clients.

  • Find out more about your customers with online surveys

Online surveys can be useful for finding out what people think of your website. They can also help you discover what clients thought of their experience at your beauty salon.

Knowing where you’re going right, and more importantly wrong, can help you tailor your online marketing to what people are actually looking for.

  • Invest in a good website

When marketing your beauty salon online, appearance and perception is everything. A poorly designed website will reflect badly on your business.

However investing in a quality online presence will show potential customers you’re a professional beauty salon that takes appearance seriously.

  • Update your website regularly with useful hints and tips

Giving away useful beauty hints and tips will encourage repeat visits to your website. Having regular and unique content on your website is also good for your search engine rankings.

  • Set time aside to work on your online marketing

It’s a good idea to make time every week to focus on your online marketing activity. If you’re the owner of a beauty salon it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day running of it and neglect the marketing side of things.

  • Track your online marketing results

When you’re investing time and money into your online marketing you need to track the results. For example, has your search ranking improved for the key terms you’ve been targeting? If you’re running a pay per click (PPC) campaign you should check it regularly to see what return you’re getting on your investment.

  • Have an online offer of the week or month

The beauty industry is constantly evolving and you need to keep up with latest trends and treatments. By promoting an online offer of the week or month you can keep your website and marketing activity fresh and current.

A great way of promoting this online is to do it via social media sites such as Twitter or Facebook.

  2. These are great tips that you shared with us. “Make use of social media sites” – I am a fan of using this method. I have reached many customers using social media platforms like facebook and twitter. I did an online contest and was very overwhelmed by outcome.

  3. Thanks for your comments Amy. Social media is a great way for beauty salons to gain more brand recognition and customers online. I’ve seen it used well to fill bookings when someone has cancelled at short notice.

  4. Love the piece about the 80/20 rule. I first read about this notion in Tim Ferriss’ book ’4-Hour Workweek’. This is something that all businesses need to pay attention to. It’s much easier to retain a customer than it is to bring in new ones.

  5. Thanks Kim. I see it all the time with bigger businesses such as banks. They offer incentives to new customers to open accounts and do nothing for their current ones. For small businesses with less resources, it’s much more important to apply this rule as often advertising budgets are small or non-existent.
