Spend More Time Running Your Business

Online Marketing Tools

I know how hard it can be to find the time to run your business and do all your online marketing.

With this in mind, I’ve drawn up a shortlist of six free tools to make your online marketing easier with a brief summary of what each one does.

Google Adwords Keyword Tool

This tool is great if you’re just about to write the text for your website and want to see what relevant keywords get the most traffic both globally and locally.

The Google Adwords Keyword Tool can also help you identify long-tail keyphrases – those made up of four or more words that still get monthly traffic.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is an invaluable free tool for every website owner. It allows you to track things like number of visitors to your site, where these visitors came from, what keywords they used to find your site and so much more.

Copyscape

Copyscape is an online plagiarism checker that searches the web for sites that have copied whole articles or parts of articles from your website and published them.

Google Page Rank

This tool from LinkVendor allows you to check your site’s pagerank. Pagerank is a guide to how authoritative Google thinks your website is and runs from 0 to 10 with a pagerank 0 being the lowest.

Keyword Density

With Google’s recent algorithm update, it’s more important than ever to not have spammy content on your site that’s been written purely for the search engines.

The keyword density checker from webconfs.com will let you see how often you’ve used a certain word or phrase within your text.

If your % score comes back in double figures, it’s too high and you should look to reduce the number of instances of that particular keyword or phrase. Remember you’re writing for humans, not robots.

Yahoo Site Explorer

Yahoo Site Explorer is great for checking incoming links to your own website. You can also use it to research what websites are linking in to your competitors.

It allows you to see how many links you’ve got as well as being able to visit each link to see exactly how your site is being linked to.

If you’re paying for someone else to do a link building campaign for your site, this is a good way to check they’ve all been done.

These are just a few of the many tools out there that can save you time when it comes to your online marketing activities.
